Hello and welcome to Robert Barton's online portfolio!

    Since his time at Sheridan College in Oakville Canada in the mid 90's, Rob has had a lucrative career in the field of television and feature animation both at home in Canada and beyond.

   Since his first job as an assistant animator for the Disney feature film Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Christmas in 1996, Rob has gone on to work on some very well known animated films and television productions including George Shrinks, Arthur, Total Drama Island, Stoked, Yin Yang Yo as well as the feature film Princess and the Frog. 

    After completion of Beauty and the Beast and spending two years working as a freelance animation artist, Rob was hired by Nelvana Studios in Toronto Canada to work as a supervisor for the show George Shrinks in Shenzen China, where he was responsible for overseeing a team of over 20 artists and animators. He would spend a year and a half working in China before being asked by Nelvana to head to Seoul, Korea to supervise the series Cyberchase.  Rob would spend almost a year  in Korea before deciding to take a break and head to Edinburgh, Scotland. What was supposed to be a 2 week vacation visiting a friend, turned into a year of working on various animation projects as a designer, layout artist and key animator for U.K. studios such as Red Kite Animation, Telemagination and King Rollo Films.

    In 2002 Rob decided it was time to come back to Canada where he would join Smiley Guy Studios in Toronto to be the Layout Supervisor for the popular prime time shows Odd Job Jack and cult hit Sons of Butcher.

    In 2005 Rob was hired by Elliott Animation in Toronto to be the Layout Supervisor for the Disney Series Yin Yang Yo. From there he would spend another 6 years at Elliott's in various positions such as character posing artist, location designer and character designer. His last year at Elliott's was spent as the character design supervisor for the popular prime time show Crash Canyon where he would design all of the main characters for the show.

    While at Elliott's Rob would also freelance with Yowza Animation as an assistant animator for Disney's last hand-drawn feature film The Princess and the Frog.   

   In 2016 Rob held the position of Art Director at 9 Story Media Group for the Amazon series 'Creative Galaxy' for which his name was entered for contention for an Emmy Award for Individual Achievement in Animation. Most recently he was the Design Supervisor for the popular children's series Alma's Way for Fred Rogers Productions.
